Founded in 1908 as the Harvard Dramatic Club, the Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club is an umbrella organization for campus theater at Harvard College. The HRDC directly oversees two student productions on the Loeb Mainstage each semester and four to six productions in the Loeb Ex, a blackbox space. Additionally, the HRDC organizes Common Casting, Backstage Week, and numerous other events, including panels, master classes, and formals. It also works to connect students to the professionals at the nationally regarded American Repertory Theater, with whom the HRDC shares the Loeb Drama Center.

Come see The 30th First Year Musical: Starville, Jesus Christ Superstar, and SKETCH!
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s timeless show is given new life in this reimagining of a classic. Jesus Christ Superstar is a rock opera that chronicles the final days of Jesus Christ from unsuspecting characters like Judas Iscariot, who serves as a skeptical narrator fearful of Jesus being labeled messiah. This show depicts, interrogates, and deepens the interpersonal relationships of these figures in an attempt to understand the struggles of these series of events from a modernized and musical perspective. Reset in 1972 Oakland; this tells the story of Jesus as an activist figure struggling with a frenzy of followers, surveillance by the government, and labels from the media and closest comrades. The iconic 70s rock score will surely touch new generations and audiences.

On a small island off the U.S. coast lies Starville, a modern town run by a pioneering space research company, NovaCorp. Among it’s inhabitants is Milo, an average mail man who has humbly worked on the island his entire life.
To celebrate the company’s 10th anniversary, NovaCorp hosts a wide scale talent show, and after Milo learns his former lover has returned to the island, he decides to participate to prove his self worth to her and the town. Yet due to contestants’ selfish actions, and moral flaws, the talent show is chaotic, resulting in the CEO revealing an unexpected identity and setting off war on the island.
Milo, once seen as unremarkable, must rally the town for one last performance to save the world. As he learns to dance, Milo leads a breathtaking showdown that not only wins the Nova Corps approval but also averts catastrophe.
“Starville” is a heart-pounding, emotional journey of redemption, love, intergalactic dispues, and the extraordinary power of self-discovery.
