About the HRDC

Founded in 1908 as the Harvard Dramatic Club, the Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club is an umbrella organization for campus theater at Harvard College. The HRDC directly oversees two student productions on the Loeb Mainstage each semester and four to six productions in the Loeb Ex, a blackbox space. Additionally, the HRDC organizes Common Casting, Backstage Week, and numerous other events, including panels, master classes, and formals. It also works to connect students to the professionals at the nationally regarded American Repertory Theater, with whom the HRDC shares the Loeb Drama Center.

The Office for the Arts presents Pippin! Running December 5-8 in the Agassiz Theatre. Tickets free with HUID on December 5. As told by a traveling troupe of actors led by the cunning and charming Leading Player, Pippin is the story of a young prince, heir to the throne, who is searching for his own “corner of the sky.” Pippin returns from university certain that he will find a fulfilling purpose in life. As encouraged by the Leading Player, Pippin dabbles in bloody battle, licentious and lusty sexual entanglements, and savvy political maneuvers, only to discover that true happiness is more complicated than he thought. Pippin is both a humorous allegory about growing up and a dark tale of the danger of false appearances and empty promises.
Content Warning: Please note that this performance contains adult themes, sexual content, course language, representations of violence and death, and discussion of suicide. It may not be appropriate for young children. Viewer discretion is advised.

Come see Jest The Way You Are! Running December 5-8 in the Loeb Ex. Falsely accused of attempted assassination, court jesters June and August are banished from their hometown of Cornwall. In search of jobs and purpose—but mostly jobs—the pair set off on a medieval quest in search of a brand-new art form. In their travels, the jesters encounter thieves, monks, wizards, stand-up comedians, and badgers—but will they find the reclusive wizard Merlin and create a new art form? Or will they succumb to the forces of capitalism and mediocrity which oppose them? All tickets free.
