ABOUT THE SHOW

Greed. Corruption. Violence. Jazz.

In 1920s Chicago, a fame-hungry chorus girl named Roxie Hart murders the man she’s been having an affair with after he tries to walk out on her. When Roxie arrives as an inmate to the Cook County Jail, fellow inmate and vaudeville performer Velma Kelly is enjoying the limelight as she awaits trial for murdering her cheating sister and husband. Roxie quickly learns who orchestrated Velma’s fame: “Mama” Morton, the corrupt prison matron, and Billy Flynn, the hotshot lawyer. Desperate for the attention and admiration of the public, Roxie and Velma attempt to outperform one another in front of the press in an all out tug-of-war for fame.

Harvard College Musical Theater brings Broadway’s longest-running American musical to the Loeb Mainstage to explore America's obsession with fame, scandal, and justice.

This performance contains discussions of and depictions of murder and gun violence.
