“There was a cabaret, and there was a Master-of-Ceremonies and there was a city called Berlin in a country called Germany. And it was the end of the world.” Set during the rise of the Nazi party in Weimar Berlin, Kander and Ebb’s Tony and Oscar award-winning musical Cabaret sets the moving, human stories of its exquisite cast of characters—a nightclub singer, an American writer, a German innkeeper, a Jewish fruit vendor, and an insidious, allegorical Master of Ceremonies—against the terrifying backdrop of destructive historical circumstance.

This site-specific production will fill the Queen’s Head Pub, using most of the space at all times, and allowing the audience to move freely between scenes occurring simultaneously in different areas of the venue. This dynamic, immersive staging will surround audiences within the world of the play, highlighting its uncanny parallels with modern America, and providing an opportunity to experience the gravity of group-think and the trans-historical threat of fascism.
