This year’s Freshman Musical will tell the story of an aspiring actress whose Broadway dreams must compromise with the difficult reality of a nascent career. After searching for opportunities to present herself, the young actress stumbles upon a local theater troupe that, for its annual production at the Renaissance Fair, has decided to perform a knockoff of a Shakespeare play (they maintain it was written by his best friend). Inexperienced and hopeful, she signs on to play the lead. As she gets to know the cast, she realizes this production is not the sort of show she had in mind as a career starter, nor are her cast mates as normal/professional as they originally seemed. Over the course of the play, our protagonist uncovers illicit romances, treachery, and comical conspiracies—all in the spirit of Renaissance mischief.
This performance is NOT just for freshmen! We want anyone and everyone to attend, including prospective students participating in Visitas.
